About
This blog is meant to record my readings and reflections from books. It is amazing how much books can teach or speak into your life!

I've been wanting to blog about Russell's "What I Believe" but I have not the mood to sink into that lately. I've been somewhat distracted and I felt it unjust to simply write a review on what I think about his first work that I tackled, it being a smaller book that "Why I Am Not A Christian".
I'm reading about Derrida now. I wanted to write about him too because I find him to be a very interesting character. Maybe later. When I get the time, and when my mind is less tired of playing games with my eyes. On 16th Feb 2005, I wrote in my Thinkpad (by the way, my Thinkpad is a small notebook that I write my thoughts or reflection of the day in): If only my mind can be blind, it sees things that are not there. posted by lil piggie at 3:56 PM
My reading is getting pathetic. I'm still struggling with Dickens' "Hard Times" though it is becoming easier to read now as the story becomes more interesting. But I'm not reading as much as I would love to. Looking back at the past entries, I seem to read more books, but lately I haven't been able to read much. Must be due to the shifting of the lab to the new place, and my increase chatting with my postgrad student, plus the shifting and unpacking that is still going on at my new home. Haiz.. *Sad.. I did not get to touch the Solitaire Mystery (but that was also because I lack the appetite then for fictions) and I guess I should start reading Dahl's children stories instead of jumping onto his short stories because my undergrad told me that those are his better works.
Anyway, got myself to come to NTU library today to look at some books. Told my friend that I would look into Bertrand Russell, so here I am, armed with 2 of his books: "Why I am not a Christian" and "What I Believe". They even have his essential writings, and other essays here, but I shall leave those till later. See how stimulating these two books are first. I borrowed a Derrida too. No idea who this person is, but he seems to be rather famous because they have a quite a number of his books here too. Oh well, hope my reading progress well. Need to balance it with my Jap revision too; lately that has been lacking as well, almost like down to zero hours per day. *Sad.. P/S: I am yearning for Frances Hodgson Burnett's A Little Princess, but they don't have it here in NTU. *Sobz.. posted by lil piggie at 10:47 AM
